Amari, Thailand’s largest domestic hotel management company, with an inventory exceeding 3,000 rooms and employing over 3,000 staff today announced that it will be investing USD$44.1 million in a corporate growth strategy. The group, which currently has 11 properties in key destinations across Thailand including Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Chang, Pattaya, Koh Samui, Chiang Mai and Krabi plans to operate 40 further properties in Asia Pacific by 2018.
This announcement comes one year after the appointment of President and CEO, Peter Henley who has spent his tenure to date focused heavily on preparing for change, allocating investment to the enhancement of systems and processes, significant revitalisation of the Amari brand and corporate management restructuring which has included the appointment of a number strategic senior hires from hospitality giants including Ritz-Carlton, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Six Senses and Shangri-La. The new management structure includes the addition of roles with specific skill sets in areas including development, technical services and revenue management.
A key cornerstone of this growth plan is the revitalisation of the brand identity. Building on Amari’s strong foundations of successfully managing a mixed portfolio of city-based hotels and resorts, the company is looking to strengthen and broaden its brand proposition.

Peter Henley, President & CEO of Amari Hotels and Resorts, has announced the promotion of Duncan Webb to Chief Marketing Officer of the group.
Duncan Webb has worked for Amari for nearly 20 years and previously held the position of Vice President of Sales & Marketing.
In his new role, he will focus on marketing, PR and brand management for Amari. Mr. Henley commented, “Amari is planning to rebrand in the fourth quarter of 2009. Duncan will take on a critical role in communicating the new brand culture to both the trade and the consumer.”

Mr Peter Henley, President & CEO of Amari Hotels and Resorts, has announced the appointment of Mr. Simon Dell as General Manager of Amari Vogue Resort, Krabi.
Mr. Dell, a British national, graduated in Business and Hospitality Administration from USA. He also holds a diploma in Hotel Administration from the Institute Hotelier-César Ritz in Switzerland. Before joining Amari, he accumulated a wealth of experience in international hospitality management in Hong Kong, Russia, Germany, Israel, UK and Switzerland.
In 2008, he joined Amari Hotels and Resorts, as an Executive Assistant Manager at Amari Orchid Resort & Tower, Pattaya.
He now oversees the smooth running of the new Amari Vogue Resort, a five-star Lanna style getaway in Krabi.
M.L. Suravut Thongtham, Vice President Sales, Amari Hotels and Resorts, recently welcomed leading members of the Pakistan media on a trip sponsored by THAI Airways Royal Orchid Holidays to visit legendary historic mosques in Bangkok.
Located on the west bank of the Chaophaya River, the imposing structures represent important and interesting examples of religious architecture, and include the famous Tonson Mosque, which is over 400 years old.

Mr Peter Henley, President & CEO of Amari Hotels and Resorts, has announced the appointment of Mr Thorsten Ries, as Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer for Amari Hotels and Resorts.
Mr Ries, a German national, brings to the role over 20 years extensive experience in many aspects of the hospitality industry. He has held several key international positions, such as General Manager, Area Manager and VP for Ritz-Carlton Eastern Europe, Four Seasons and Marriott hotels, in Europe, America and the Middle East.

Mr Peter Henley, President & CEO of Amari Hotels and Resorts, has announced the appointment of Ms Lisa Donald as the new Group Director of Revenue Management for Amari Hotels and Resorts. Ms Donald, an Australian national, brings to the role over 20 years experience in the hospitality industry. Since the late 1990’s Ms Donald has specialised in the field of revenue management, working with a variety of clients to assist in developing revenue management culture and to implement revenue strategies. Most recently, she was Vice-President of Client Services with the Cairnhill Group Holdings, in Singapore. Ms Donald holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Queensland and completed the Hotel Revenue Management Professional Development Course at Cornell-Nanyang Institute, Singapore, and certification in Hotel Revenue Management from eCornell – School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University. In 2007, Mr Boonmark, a Thai national joined Amari Hotels and Resorts, as Executive Assistant Manager at the same property and has accumulated 30 years of experience within the hospitality industry.
He now oversees the smooth running of St. James Hotel, primely located in the city centre of Bangkok.
Mr Prakitjanuruk is a Thai national and a graduate in Economics, also holding certification in Yield Management from The Hague. He has amassed over 20 years of experience within the hospitality industry.
In 1992, he joined Amari Hotels and Resorts, as Front Office Manager at Amari Boulevard Hotel, Bangkok, and then went on to become General Manager of St. James Hotel, an Amari Associate Hotel.
Mr Prakitjanuruk now oversees the smooth running of Amari Don Muang Airport Hotel, located within close proximity to Bangkok’s Don Muang Airport.
